 Southern Planning Veterans Day Activities

SALINEVILLE-Southern Local Schools will pay tribute to past military members this Veterans Day with activities planned on the campus.

Emily Bowling, director of the Southern Local High School Mighty Indians Marching Band, invited the public to the annual Veterans Day program on Nov. 11. It will include a hospitality hour in the high school cafeteria from 8:30-9:30 a.m. with coffee and a light breakfast being provided by district Food Service Coordinator Samantha Fryman. The program will follow at 9:30 a.m. with music, special readings and presentations by students in grades K-12. Bowling said recent events had been impacted by the COVID pandemic, but she was glad to see plans resume as normal.

“After two years of COVID restrictions, we will be back to normal with the entire student body in attendance,” she said. “We usually have about 100 community members attend with the American Legion Post 442 from Salineville also participating. Students from all grade levels will be involved with crafts, readings and musical selections.”
